MIGRATION

Memories of the places I’ve lived, from my early life to more recent days, often intrude upon my thoughts and end up making their way into many of my paintings. From leaving my native land in my teens for the bright lights of NYC, to then relocating to California in my late 20s, to the UK and then Portugal more recently, these seismic moves have influenced the person I am and inevitably resurface in my work in various ways. Even the colors that I always reach for, are linked to elements of my life, from the oranges and reds of hibiscus flowers, to the cool gray of the San Francisco fog, to the warm stone of Georgian buildings in Edinburgh, to the blue of the Atlantic.
